  • 1.20 lakh children from Ahmedabad, 80 thousand from Rajkot and 69 thousand from Vadodara will be vaccinated
  • Children who are not attending school will be vaccinated on January 8-9

Corona blast has re-entered Gujarat once again. Around 500 to 600 cases are being registered daily. Many students who started offline education across the state at that time have also become infected with Corona. With this in mind, a mega drive of vaccination for children aged 15-18 is starting from January 3. The mega drive by the state health department, corporation and school administrators will run till January 9 with the target of vaccinating more than 35 lakh children in Gujarat.



More than 3500 vaccination centers will be set up

Manoj Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, said that sincere efforts will be made to ensure that not a single child is left behind under the Maha Abhiyan on January 7. These children will currently be given the first dose of the covacin vaccine. Adequate quantity of vaccine is available in the state for this purpose. It is estimated that more than 3500 centers will be functioning in the state and the sessions will be extended as per the requirement at the local level as well.

How are statewide vaccination preparations?

Ahmedabad is currently experiencing the highest risk of corona in Gujarat. In Ahmedabad, many children have been infected with corona in just 2 days. Taking this into consideration, DEO Hitendrasinh Padheriana said that a list of 1.20 lakh children for vaccination of children has been given to the corporation and schools have also been informed in writing to prepare for vaccination. About 80,000 children from more than 350 schools, colleges and ITI colleges will be vaccinated by 400 medical teams, he told Rajkot Corporation. While the list of 15 to 18 year old children has been given to the corporation by Surat DEO and consent letter has been started from parents for vaccination. A total of 69,000 children will also be vaccinated in Vadodara. A child protection campaign against corona will be launched on January 3 at 203 centers.

More than 35 lakh children to be vaccinated: Health Minister


Regarding the mega drive, Health Minister Shikesh Patel said that as part of a special mega drive from January 3 to 9, children in the age group of 15-18 years will be vaccinated with Covid-19. The campaign will vaccinate more than 35 lakh children in the state. For this, separate sessions for vaccination will be conducted in schools and other places across the state from January 4 where there are beneficiaries of this age group.

Separate arrangements were made for out-of-school children

Children will be covered by Megadrive at all schools and other institutions across the state on January 7 and children will be vaccinated on January 8 and 9 at convenient times for out-of-school children. For this, online registration in Covin Portal will start from 1st January and online registration will start from 5th January.
