NTSE Exam 2021 Notification Declared

National Talent Search Examination is a National-Level exam and it is popularly known as NTSE. Every year, the NTS examination is conducted by the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) to offer accomplishments to the commendable students studying in class 10th. NTS Exam is conducted only once in a year in two different Stages- Stage I and II for 10th standard students only.

The Stage-I exam is a state-level exam and is conducted by all the states and Union Territories of India while Stage-II (National level) will be held only for those students who will qualify the Stage-I. The students who will clear both the Stages i.e. Stage-I and Stage-I will be eligible to receive the Scholarship. The scholarship will be given on the basis of the overall performance of students in Stage-I and Stage-II. The application form for this exam will be filled in online mode and the examination will be held in offline mode.



The NCERT has been released the notification for the NTSE for the session 2022 and all the states and Union Territories have been released the application form for NTSE in the month of October. Candidates are instructed to fill the application form before the last date.

NTSE Exam 2022 Application Process

The application form for NTSE can be filled in both the modes i.e. in online and offline modes. For the different states, the offline application form will be distributed separately by the states. Here we have given some general guidelines regarding the form filling process which are as discussed below.

  • If the candidates are downloading the form itself but while taking print out only use legal 8.5” * 14” size paper.
  • Only the application form which is available online or offline by State/ UT liaison officer is only applicable for the Stage 1 exam.
  • While filling the Application Form of NTSE, candidates have to leave the 4-digit center code blank, because it has to be filled by the liaison officer or concerned district officer or center superintendent.

How to fill NTSE Form?

The form filling process for Indian students is different for Indian students than the Indian students studying abroad. Here is the detailed process is provided below.

Indian Students

  1. Indian students must have to download the application form which is available on the official website of NCERT.
  2. After filling in all the details, the candidates must get the form signed by the principal of his/ her school.
  3. Lastly, the application form will be submitted to the State Liaison Officer before the last date of submission of the application form.

Indian Students Studying Abroad

  1. Those Indian students who are studying Abroad can apply directly for Stage 2 of the NTSE exam.
  2. The application form for stage two will have to be downloaded from the website.
  3. After filling the application form, the duly filled in application form must be sent to the following address with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous exam:

NTSE 2022 Application Fee

  • The application fee for Stage 1 will depend upon the respective states and Union territories.
  • There is no application fee required for the National Level Examination i.e. for Stage 2.

NTSE Exam 2022 Eligibility

The eligibility criteria are different for the different stages as prescribed by the NCERT. Here we given some basic eligibility criteria that the candidates must have to meet otherwise they will not be able to apply for the NTSE exam.

  • Candidates should be an Indian citizen.
  • The candidates must have to appear in class 10 from a recognized private or government school/ Board in India.
  • Unemployed candidates whose age is below 18 years, and studying in class 10 from open or distance learning then those candidates are also eligible to apply for the NTSE exam.
  • The candidates will able to apply for the second stage if they meet the sectional cut-off in stage 1 as well as the overall cut-off.
  • The Indian students who are studying in abroad, and want to apply for NTSE 2022, should send the attested copy of the class 9 mark sheet to the head of the Educational Survey Division, NCERT by 31st December 2022.

NTSE Exam 2022 Exam Pattern

Every year, the NTSE Exam is conducted in two different stages namely, Stage 1 and Stage 2.

  • Stage 1:
    • Stage 1 is a state and UT level examination.
    • Stage 1 is conducted by the authorities of various states and union territories.
    • Stage 1 is an offline test.
    • Stage 1 exam consists of two different papers namely Paper 1 and Paper 2.
    • Paper 1 tests the Mental Ability of the students while Paper 2 tests the Scholastic Ability of the candidates.
    • 1 mark will be assigned for every correct answer.
    •  There is no negative marking for the incorrect answer.
    • The total no. of questions asked in the exam is 200 (i.e. Paper 1 – 100 questions, Paper 2- 100 questions).
    • The total marks for the stage 1 exam are 200 marks (i.e. Paper 1 – 100 marks, Paper 2- 100 marks).
  • Stage 2:
    • Stage 2 is a National-Level examination.
    • Stage 2 is conducted by NCERT.

NTSE Exam 2022 Admit Card

The admit card for Stage 1 will be issued by the official authorities of the state and UTs. While the admit card for Stage 2 will be released on the official website of NCERT. The admit card is a very necessary document and without it, no one can enter the examination hall.

How to Download NTSE Exam 2022 Admit Card?

Steps to Receive the Admit Card for both Stages:

  • For Stage 1, NTSE Admit Card will be sent through the post by the authorities to the candidate’s communication address, as mentioned already in the application form.
  • In case, if a candidate has not received the admit card through post then he/she can visit the office of the Chief Superintendent to obtain their admit card.
  • For Stage 2, NTSE Admit Card will be available on the official website of NCERT, tentatively in the month of April.
  • Candidates can download their admit cards by visiting the official website of NCERT and then by log in the credentials.
